Review: I have owned this item for 2 years, and it has saved me from replacement phone costs. I am a clutz, and drop my phone practically every day. This case, unlike others which tout themselves as "slim" and "light", protects the phone from drops from every angle; even the corners and ends are well protected.
The hard shell protects against sharp objects, hard and abrasive surfaces, and the silicone liner provides shock absorption which has kept my BlackBerry functioning through two years with many hard spills. Both forms of protection are necessary for anyone who habitually drops phones, or participates in demanding jobs or hobbies. And even with all of this protection, it is still slim enough to fit into the standard belt holsters. It protects just as well, looks better, and will fit in cases unlike the Otter.
Since the silicone does tear easily, I recommend cutting off the small stretch of silicone at the face next to the USB port, which has no corresponding hard casing with it. This piece is a weak point in the design, and should be excluded out of the molds. This short peice gets caught on things. With manipulation of the silicone when removing it and applying it to the phone, these factors cause this thin piece to start tears along the ridge which protects the front face of the phone. It's much better to just cut this piece off before putting it on your phone, then to try to decide how to trim it after it eventually begins to tear.
The photos are to show you where to look for that short piece of the silicone I'm speaking of. You may be able to see a longer stretch of the face-protecting ridge which I had to remove because of this tearing. No biggie because I know what to do this time. And don't judge the appearance of this case, because it IS two years old, and has been subject to abuse--includeing a chemical spill which is what made the clear hard shell to appear cloudy. Trust me; new, this is a very appealing case.
